Plein-Air Blossom Painting

The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival is delighted to announce the second annual celebration this Spring. As the blossoming of our cherry trees is such an incredible visual display the festival will once again present Plein-Air Blossom Painting. This program puts artists in direct contact with nature following the Peak Bloom of the city’s 36,000 ornamental flowering cherry trees around Vancouver’s parks and neighborhoods.

This is a unique and beautiful opportunity to experience plein-air painting on location under a extraordinary canopy of cherry blossoms with other artists. We invite you to register to learn more about Plein-Air painting and how to capture the exuberance of the blossoming onto your canvas.

On five consecutive Saturdays starting March 24th, participants can sign up for three-hour classes from 11am to 2pm amidst Vancouver’s most spectacular displays of cherry blossoms. These outdoor painting sessions will feature a variety of Plein-Air teaching artists from the lower mainland specializing in different techniques, including Barrie Chadwick, Bob McMurray, Teressa Bernard, Elizabeth Harris-Nichols, Leslie McGuffin and Alfonso Tejada.

To encourage the next generation of plein-air artists and the flourishing of the art form, we are introducing Plein-Air Blossom Painting for children aged 6 to 13 years of age on April 21 from 11am to 2pm.
